Green and Rustic

Country Vintage Vignette

A rainy day in the fall is a good time to putter in the greenhouse; surprisingly, I have a lot of green rustic odds and ends, so here's a collection of them in a country vignette;

Between the little kitchen scale with its bird shaped counter weight, and all the other odd little pieces that I've collected over the years, there is no end of charm and character in a display of country and rustic bits an bobs.

Old bottles fill a rustic twig handled box, seed heads and dried garlic scapes tumble from the green painted root basket.

The backdrop is a green painted window, still with the glass intact.

A reed blind stands in as a cover for the old scarred boards reused as greenhouse staging.

Dark green painted terracotta pots spill over with excelsior, a packing material long gone out of favor, but used in the old days to pack eggs and other delicate goods like fine bone china being hauled over a rough wagon road.

Who says romance is dead?

Fantastical twirls and curls give a romantic look to a little rustic basket...

Garlic scapes are a fabulous accent for a dried arrangement in a

Not to be outdone, the little bird is the counter weight for the kitchen scale...

Do you like colors in your vignettes?  I seem to collect things that go together, without even meaning too; see more about red here, and blue painted things here.

Whatever else you find in your collections of junk, they'll all fit together in a simple rustic display. The common element can be color, or a shape that is repeated in them all, or just things that you like and treasure.
