There is progress on the old window greenhouse, albeit slow. There will always be snags and unexpected expenses, making it important to be able to pivot.

I am also working on figuring out some window boxes for my annuals. This year, Purple Wave petunias, Carmine Wave petunias, stocks, tagetes marigolds in orange and yellow, as well as several different nicotiana, all grown from seed under lights, for a change.

I'm going for a scented theme here, along with some nasturtiums seeded here and there, both in the bags that I ordered online, and in the window boxes.

There are a few surprises in the mix too, like the stainless steel fruit basket that I decided needed a bit more rustic on it, so I wove jute cord through it to give it the same ambience as those coir basket liners.

I'll post about that in the next issue of Rurality, and you'll get an idea of how it will look with a plant overflowing, right next to the hummingbird feeder.

I like to take a thrift store find and take it to the next level with some customized upgrade or other. If it can be burned in the fire to take the finish off, or have something added to it, all the better.
