Take a walk in the woods and collect some twigs and pine cones, or even pine needles to make into coiled baskets.

If the weather is dry and you don't have much snow, getting out into the fresh air is a wonderful balm to the spirit this time of year.

These wildcrafting safety tips might be a good thing to review before you get out there to look for twigs that make good handles, or some for a basket.

There are certain times of the year that are best for collecting things, such as the fall for mushrooms, or winter for harvesting Paxistima , also known as rat stripper among other names. It's one plant you will recognize, as florists everywhere include it in their bouquets. I bet you didn't know it was a wildcrafted item!
