Mid July, the perfect time for a road trip or two. The best ones are to places out in the middle of nowhere, off the beaten track. That's where the treasures are.

Several years ago, I went on a road trip with a friend, who drove us in her van. That meant we had a lot of room for all kinds of pieces, even ones that we could barely lift. No problem, they fit in the back just fine.

This junking road trip was a blast, and in only a few short hours I had enough to keep me busy for a long time. Not only were the pieces free, there were a lot of choices. To me, that's half the fun - coming up with ways to use all the bits and bobs.

Learning how to cogitate, or allow your mind to wander, is an art. So many of us are made to feel guilty that we're wasting time when we daydream. I beg to differ. There is no way of forcing creativity. It has to emerge on its own. Often, it happens at night, or when we're not thinking of anything. Those are the best.

I like to encourage everyone to take on some crafting challenges, whether you're an expert, or a beginner, there are crafts for everyone. While you're thinking about where to start, why not sign up for the free how to be creative guide where I take you through the process of letting your muse out to play. If there's something else you would like to see, either on the website or in the guide, don't hesitate to let me know. Reply to this email, or contact me.
