Rurality Newsletter - All Rustic News June 15, 2025 |
The halcyon days of summer are here, with warm weather and beach days in the forecast. If you like gathering sea glass and driftwood, this is the time. June 15 2025I live near the ocean now, so going to one of my favorite beaches is still a thrill. The red sands of PEI and all the scents and sounds of the sea are very special. All the good memories are getting stored up to bring out on rainy days when the weather isn't so gorgeous.I find barnboard, or make my own with pickling or as I sometimes call it, giggle juice. You can see how it looks on one of my latest projects, the pickled window boxes which are quickly spilling over with petunias and callibrachoa. There are many beautiful plants that you can use in hanging baskets and window boxes, and many of them can be propagated easily to make more. I grow lots of different things that can be plugged into any gaps as the baskets and driftwood window boxes start to show where they need a bit of help. What would you use for a window box? Anything like these two projects? Let me know.
