Rurality Newsletter - All Rustic News September 15, 2024 |
Fall is here with a vengeance. The first rain event in a while, and you can feel the change. There are even maples turning already, which gives a taste of what's to come. September 15 2024Do you feel the urge to walk in the woods, viewing the turning leaves? There's nothing like the smell of the forest in the autumn, when the leaves are starting to fall. Maybe you'll see a grouse, or the squirrels at work putting the acorns away for a later snack. The other thing you might want to do is wildcrafting and cut some twigs to make into twig wreaths . They are good to make ahead so they have time to dry before the Christmas season. Then you can attach bells, pine cones or any other small items you have around. I like to make these kinds of wreaths out of willow or
grapevines
as both of these are flexible and strong at the same time. You can make the base out of these, then attach other twigs that may not be as easy to wind around, by wiring them on.
